WHAT IS KELTY DEVELOPMENT TRUST?
The aim of Kelty Development Trust is to improve the quality of life for people living in Kelty by identifying issues that are very important to the people of Kelty, then setting up projects and activities to resolve them.
We aim to create community wealth, generating income from activities like selling goods or services or by obtaining community assets (land, property or equipment) and using these to make money. Any profits made would be used to help meet the costs of other projects and activities that would make a difference to the people of our village.
In order to make Kelty a better place to live we need imagination, some dedicated people ready to do some small thing to make a difference, and investment from the banks, financial groups and/or Fife Council.
Using this web-site we plan to publish minutes of our meetings, financial reports and any plans we have for the future benefit of the community. We will also be in a position to establish the opinions of members of the community on these and other issues, something that is vital to our progress. Latest KDT Newsletter here
If you look up Kelty on the Wikipedia website and you can find your way past the tents this is what it tells you... "Kelty is a town located in Fife, Scotland. Kelty is a former mining village in the heart of the old mining heartlands of Fife. It is situated on the Fife/Kinross-shire boundary with a population of around 6000 residents. This was nearer to 9000 when the mining industry was still operational in late 70s and early 80s." ...we think there's probably a bit more to the village than that and this website is designed to show exactly that, and to provide the community with a forum to express their thoughts and views and to share them with other residents and the World... If you have any comments about this site or any other issue, please go to the forum . thanks. check out the up and coming local events here.
